Where are you located?
We do our computer repair “mouse calls” in Lawrence, Topeka and the Kansas City Metro area. This includes smaller cities like Baldwin City, Basehor and Eudora. There is a small trip charge to go on-site. That charge is usually $10.00.
We also offer service calls by appointment at our office in Lawrence and Kansas City. These appointments need to be scheduled in advance.
What are your hours?
Since appointments are scheduled, our hours vary. We work to accommodate our clients. This can mean an early morning appointment before work, an evening appointment or even an appointment on Sundays.
So that our team can have a life outside of work, we generally return phone calls from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. We have an after-hours emergency call-back system and there is a small charge for callbacks outside our normal phone hours.
What are your rates?
We do everything by the hour. The reason is simple. Why pay for what you don’t need? Some jobs take longer, some shorter. Most places charge more than the actual time needed to compensate for longer jobs. We keep you informed and in control. While our guesses aren’t perfect, we’ll let you know how much longer the job will be. We WON’T run up a bill without chatting with you and offering you options. The average service call on-site is one hour and our average office visit is one-half hour. Our hourly rate is $120 an hour. However, we fix things fast due to our skills and experience, so most jobs will be less than an hour.
How long will it take to get my computer fixed?
Usually an hour. That’s our average service call time. Unlike other shops that leave your computer sitting on a shelf for days, we make appointments. That’s like your medical professional. Okay, not totally like them. We don’t leave you in an exam room for half an hour in a drafty gown. During your appointment, we’re working on your computer. When we’re done, your computer is fixed. At your location or ours — it doesn’t make a difference. What’s the point of a computer sitting around waiting to be fixed?
Can I just drop off my computer and you fix it whenever?
No.
There’s a reason for that. We focus on individualized service and don’t have a retail operation. We don’t have the space for a bunch of computers to sit on a shelf. We also think it’s kinda pointless to make two trips to us. One to drop it off, one to pick it up. Why not just come in with a broken computer and walk out with a fixed one?
That being said, you’re welcome to schedule an appointment for a drop-off. During that time we’ll schedule a pickup time that works for both of us.
Do you sell computers or other computer stuff?
Heck no!
There’s a reason for that too. We don’t have quotas or inventory sitting on the shelf. Our goal is to get you up and running, not sell you stuff. We find selling stuff is a conflict of interest. Occasionally we’ll suggest a part needs to be replaced and we might stock that. You’re welcome to bring your own. We generally sell any replacement parts at our cost.
When we suggest a new computer to you, you know our recommendation is genuine. We’re essentially talking ourselves out of repair work. We’re unique that way.
Why us?
Experience, professionalism and trust.
Experience: our team has the breadth and depth of experience to solve almost every problem out there. Granted, we can’t promise to solve it all. Nobody can do that (and you shouldn’t trust anyone that makes that type of claim). Dave’s been doing this type of work since 1990 and is a problem-solver. Our team of technicians work together to solve problems. This is all we focus on.
Professionalism: this isn’t some fly-by-night operation. We’ve been in business since 2003 and will be here for the long term. It sounds silly, but we’re proud we collect sales tax. We’re part of the business community. Although we never hope to use it, we’re insured against most mishaps. Our techs wear a uniform so you can clearly identify them. They take careful notes at each service call and we have signed agreements before we begin work. We take cash, check and credit cards. Upon approval, we can also invoice customers.
Trust: that’s really what it comes down to. It isn’t just that you can trust the people working on your computers. You trust that we’ll keep your information private and confidential. Most important, you can trust that we’re right and fair in our diagnosis and repair. We’ll fix the problem without trying to sell you products or services you don’t need.
